We are pleased to present a modern extension and alterations that has been recently completed in Winchester. What started out as a modest mid-20th century house, largely unchanged since its foundation, has now been transformed into a bright modern home.
Our clients wanted a family home that could evolve with them and handle the ever-growing rhythm, rush, and relishes of domestic life while also fulfilling the demands of the current working-from-home culture. The brief called for expansive living areas for hosting large family gatherings. This was achieved through the conversion of the original garage into additional living space and a modest contemporary rear extension hosting a larger kitchen and dining area. Large bi-folding doors at the corner of the extension open up the space to the rear terrace and large garden beyond, bringing vast amounts of light and air into the building and embracing the landscape.
Working closely with our clients, we were able to rejuvenate the architectural character of the house from the dull buff brick to a crisp contemporary white painted brickwork, accompanied by a contrasting dark painted wood panel bay, a bold touch to the renewed pristine exterior.
With the repurposed garage, a new garage outbuilding, an extended open-plan kitchen, and an enhanced architectural character, this modernised house is ready for the clients to host and truly feel at home.
